Farmville Removes its Confederate Statue
In the summer of 2020, the Farmville, VA council held a secret meeting to remove the confederate statue erected over a century ago. The statue, which stood next to Longwood University, was a source of discomfort to the town and students. The council feared the statue being defaced like the infamous General Lee statue in Richmond, VA. So on a random summer day, the city brought a crew to dismantle the soldier from the base and store it in secret.
